Kimberly Carillo

Kimberly is a first-generation Latina from South Los Angeles, passionate about educational equity and social justice. She began her advocacy work as a high school student, organizing with Community Coalition (CoCo) to address inequities in South LA schools. She later joined CoCo’s Civic Engagement team, where she led outreach campaigns for Prop 15, Measure EE, and Healthy Futures CA.

Her passion for community organizing has led her to fellowships both locally and bi-nationally, deepening her understanding of power-building strategies around issues like mass incarceration and economic development. Kimberly has also worked on several political campaigns in staff and volunteer capacities. She was a fellow in our 2023 DANA Center for Neuroscience and Society Fellowship and currently serves as our Community Strategist.
