Community-Centered Neuroscience

The UCLA-CDU Center for Neuroscience and Society unites researchers, clinicians, and community partners to explore how brain science intersects with justice, health, and human experience.

Mission

The UCLA-CDU Dana Center for Neuroscience & Society, established in partnership with the Dana Foundation, brings together UCLA and Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science to develop a community-centered approach to neuroscience research and training. We engage scholars from neuroscience, social science, education, policy, and the humanities to work with local clinician-scholars, community partners, and organizations in South Los Angeles. Our goal is to foster new types of experts, including neuroscientists capable of leading community participatory research and community experts who can leverage the methods and impacts neuroscience.
